Ada Yonath at ESET Science Award 2022

At this year’s ESET Science Award, we have the honor of welcoming Ada Yonath as our Chair of the Jury. Ada Yonath is a prominent chemist and Nobel Prize laureate for her research on the ribosome structure and function. She is currently the director of Helen and Milton A. Kimmelman Center for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly at the Weizmann Institute of Sciences. Her ongoing research focuses on antibiotic resistance and the development of new antibiotics.

„What is the Origin of Life?“

World renowned scientist, Ada Yonath, will be discussing the “origin of life” on October 15th in the heart of Europe, Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2009, Ada Yonath received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her successful ribosome research and over the past several decades, she and her team clarified more than 20 antibiotics functions, paving the way for the development of new drugs. Her ongoing research focuses on antibiotic resistance, the development of new antibiotics, and revelation of the origin of life. Ada will be discussing how her research has brought answers to such life-progressing questions.

Award Ceremony of the ESET Science Award 2022

The festive announcement of the award winners is an annual celebration of science in Slovakia. The gala evening is attended by representatives of the domestic and foreign scientific community, ambassadors and the political elite, carried out under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová. The event announcing the awards in all three categories: Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia, Outstanding Scientist in Slovakia under the age of 35, Outstanding Academic in Slovakia can be watched online as well as on the National Television.
