Jan Konvalinka is the director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, head of the research department at the institute, and professor of biochemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of Charles University in Prague. In his research, he focuses on medicinally relevant enzymes, specifically viral proteases and polymerases, and on the development of novel ways of their inhibition, visualisation and targeting. He is an author of several books, numerous international patents and more than 148 research papers in international journals that have been cited more than 5,000 times.
